Short biography:

Jasmin Jug was born on May 3, 1986, in Varaždin. He finished primary school in Ivanec and secondary mining school in Varaždin. In 2005 he enrolled in the study program in Geoengineering at the Faculty of Geotechnical Engineering in Varaždin. In 2008 he finished his undergraduate studies after he had defended his bachelor thesis "Drilling speed as a function of the geological index of rock mass strength". On July 15, 2010, he graduated from the same Faculty, and he obtained the academic title Master of Geoengineering. The title of his master thesis was "Rehabilitation of the quarry Sveti Mikula - Rakalj"

He has been employed at the Department of Geotechnics at the Faculty of Geotechnical Engineering since 1st September 2011. He worked as a research assisstant, an assistant lecturer and on September 1, 2020, he became a Postdoc. He has been an associate professor since 8th November 2021. In the academic year 2014/15, he enrolled in the postgraduate doctoral study programme "Applied Geosciences, Mining and Petroleum Engineering" at the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering in Zagreb. On June 12, 2020, he defended his doctoral thesis and gained a PhD degree in the engineering sciences (scientific field: mining, geology and petroleum engineering). The title of the doctoral thesis was "Model for the assessment of the applicability of excavation technologies in relation to the rock mass characteristics" under the supervision of an Associate Professor Petar Hrženjak.

He has been teaching at the Faculty of Geotechnical Engineering since the academic year 2014/15. He holds practical exercises in eleven courses and has been a supervisor of several bachelor theses.

Jasmin Jug participated in three scientific research projects, which were funded by the University of Zagreb. Since the academic year 2019/20 he has been actively participating in two scientific research institutional projects. In 2019 he joined the COST project CA17131 and in 2020 the IRI project KK.01.2.1.02.

As a result of his scientific research work, he has published nineteen scientific papers, including four papers published in A category journals, three papers in B category journals and twelve papers in international scientific conference proceedings. The number of papers indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection bibliographic database is five. Two papers belong to the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EXPANDED), two papers belong to the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) and one belongs to the Conference Proceedings Citation Index - Science (CPCI-S). There are four papers in the Scopus bibliographic database. Jasmin Jug is the first author of seven papers.

In 2018 and 2020 Jamin Jug was awarded for his scientific excellence by the Faculty of Geotechnical Engineering. He has been a member of the technical staff of the scientific journal Environmental Engineering since 2019.

The scientific recognition of Jasmin Jug is reflected in the review of scientific papers in scientific journals. For Geomechanics and Geoengineering: An International Journal he conducted three reviews during 2020. For MDPI journals (Applied Sciences, Remote Sensing, Minerals, Land, Energies, Water) in the period from 2019 to 2021 he conducted fifteen reviews. He took part in three scientific workshops.

Jasmin Jug is continuously engaged in professional work. He has co-authored thirteen professional papers in journals and proceedings and participated in research and preparation of over a hundred of professional reports, studies and projects in geotechnics, geophysics and mining. He is a member of the Croatian Geotechnical Society (CGS) and the International Society of Rock Mechanics (ISRM). He actively uses English (B2) and German (B1). He is married and he has two sons.
