Teaching activities
I belong to the second generation of teachers in my family and for that reason I was taught from the youngest age that teaching was an honorable and profound profession. My teaching philosophy is based on the respect for the expertise and diversity of learning styles and educational goals of the students with whom I have the privilege of engaging in a co-learning experience. I believe it is important to be accessible, responsive to constructive feedback, open-minded and encouraging. Also, I truly value the ability to learn from my students about current issues encountered in a classroom and/or in a geotechnical laboratory. Since March 2001 I have been permanently involved in the education process at the Faculty of Geotechnical Engineering. In December 2011 I was elected to the scientific teaching title of an Assistant Professor and in 2017 I become an Associated Professor. Currently I teach five courses at all study levels. I strive to make my courses exciting and challenging for students. Since I realize that students can have different learning strategies, I try to do my best to vary my lecturing styles as much as possible to accommodate to their learning styles. I also devote considerable one-to-one effort to each student.

Ongoing projects
Supervisor

  • Installation research project of Croatian Science Foundation „Testing and modelling of mechanical behavior of biodryed waste as a Waste-to-Energy prerequisite “; Project duration: January 1st, 2018 - December 31st, 2022; UIP-2017-05-5157; http://wte.gfv.hr/

  • Young researchers’ career development project – training new doctoral students funded by Croatian Science Foundation; Project duration: November 1st, 2020 - November 1st, 2024

  • „Numerical modeling of the long-term behavior of biostabilized MBT waste material“- bilateral Scientific & Technological Cooperation between Croatia and Austria; 2018-19; Project duration: 2 years (January 1st, 2018 – December 31st, 2019), Project No. HR 01/2018

  • Project partner

  • “VIRTULAB” - Integrated laboratory for primary and secondary raw materials. Project Virtulab is aligned with the main ideas of the EIT KIC Raw materials consortium in which the University of Zagreb participates as an associate partner. The project is planned as a central interdisciplinary support for industrial partners from the mining, geology, geological and geotechnical engineering, chemical engineering, metallurgy and food technology sectors. (https://www.rgn.unizg.hr/hr/virtulab). I am the main project coordinator for the following member of the consortium: Faculty of Geotechnical Engineering, University of Zagreb. Project duration: 2018-11-01 - 2020-05-01, Total budget: 1.685.878,20 EUR

  • KIC – „EIT-Raw Materials“ (https://eitrawmaterials.eu/) has the ambitious vision of turning the challenge of raw materials dependence into a strategic strength for Europe. Its mission is to boost the competitiveness, growth and attractiveness of the European raw materials sector via radical innovation and entrepreneurship. This KIC integrates multiple disciplines, diversity and complementarity along the three sides of the knowledge triangle (business, education and research) and across the whole raw materials value chain. According to the Rector’s decision I am the main project coordinator for the following member of the consortium: Faculty of Geotechnical Engineering, University of Zagreb.

  • Research project of Croatian Science Foundation „Nanocomposites comprising perovskites for photovoltaics, photo-catalysis and sensing“; Project duration: Oct 31st 2018 - Oct 30th 2022; IP-2018-01-5246; Total budget: 197.000,00 EUR

  • Member of Croatian Geotechnical Society.
