Graduate study programme in Geoenvironmental Engineering

Category: Diplomski studij

Upon the completion of the graduate study programme in Geoenvironmental Engineering, students will be able to:

  • plan and organise geophysical investigations aimed at detecting mineral deposits and aquifers and determining the geological structure of the Earth's crust for the purpose of laying foundations for constructions, hydrotechnical structures and for the detection of waste,

  • plan, design and organise field investigations and laboratory testing in geotechnical engineering and mining,

  • propose and recommend blasting for the construction of pits for different purposes, road building, construction of hydrotechnical and underground structures, tearing down of unused structures and exploitation of minerals,

  • plan, design and recommend remediation of complex geotechnical structures in soil, such as deep and shallow foundations, dams, embankments, tunnels, landslide sites, retaining constructions, digs, construction pits, roads cut into hillsides, landfills, etc.,

  • collect, analyse, visualize and solve tasks of medium complexity concerning remote sensing in the field of geotechnical environmental engineering,

  • apply terrestrial, aerial-photogrammetric surveys and scanned data as well as their interpretation and numerical data implementation into different thematic geo-information systems,

  • analyse and apply satellite data collected from different missions using different data-collecting sensors for the purpose of data application in geophysics, geology, hydrotechnics, agriculture and forestry, physical planning, environmental protection and air quality assessment,

  • propose, plan and co-operate in all types of activities concerning pollutant removal or soil/water remediation by using special environmental protection materials,

  • assess the risk and participate in conducting feasibility studies involving medium complexity problems in environmental engineering and participate in carrying out detailed studies of a preliminary impact assessment on an ecological network.
